Assignment 7 (7th and 8th Grade): Made in L.A., Part 1

1. How is the life of sweatshop workers in L.A. the same as those in Indonesia?  How is it different?
 The way are the same is the jobs they work in a sweatshop  and they get pay little.

2. Why is it that poor immigrants (newcomers) end up working at sweatshops?  Why don’t they work as lawyers or doctors or at Mcdonalds?

1.  What does it mean to “make a decent living”?  What should you be able to afford to buy?
 A decent living is like you should be able to afford some stuff. You should be able to afford toothpaste,toothbrush,sneakers,phone,house,clothing,phone,etc.

2.  Where do your sneakers come from?  Who makes them?
  Some of my sneakers come from china. Kids might make them,and adults might have too.

3.  What is a sweatshop (take a guess, even if you have no idea)?
I think a sweatshop is a place were kids work like child labor.

  I think that this place should be tor down because the low pay is terrible 1.25 a day and 12 hours
not a enough pay for a day I can only afford a bag of peanuts and a bottle of ice tea as a meal every day.

1.  How much do Nike workers make in Indonesia?  How many hours a day do they work?
 The worker make 1.25 ever day. They work 12-13 hours a day. 12 hours a day and 1.25.



 2.  What is life like for Indonesian Nike workers at home?
 Hard they can't buy enough food no school food the kids they are not educated.



 3.  Why won’t Nike talk to Jim or Leslie or let them visit the shoe factory?
 They will not let go in because the bad working cundishtion.
